ISG Jackson Special Projects has been awarded its latest project with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, securing a £933K project to extend and upgrade facilities at Temple Sutton Primary School. The contractor recently successfully completed a £1.1 million project for the council at nearby Kingsdown School and parent company, ISG Jackson, is currently on site building the £multi-million pool and diving centre at Garon Park.

This latest scheme sees ISG Jackson Special Projects build a single-storey extension at the highly regarded Temple Sutton Primary School to provide extra teaching capacity. The 770 m² steel frame structure will house an additional three large classrooms, with the extension carefully designed to link seamlessly with the existing school buildings.

As part of the project, the contractor will also carry out the refurbishment and alteration of existing welfare facilities, corridors and classrooms, as well as upgrading mechanical and electrical services within the school. Externally, ISG Jackson Special Projects will create a new covered play area, with the project scheduled for completion in June 2010.

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council’s Executive Councillor for Children and Learning, Councillor Roger Hadley said: “Congratulations to ISG Jackson for winning this very important contract. The construction work they are undertaking is a vital way for Temple Sutton School to expand its capacity – as well as improving the school’s existing buildings.

“This work is part of our borough-wide strategy to provide more primary school places to make sure there will be enough places available for the increasing numbers of primary school children.”

Stuart Talbot, divisional director for ISG Jackson Special Projects, commented: “The business is forging a strong relationship with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council undertaking a range of high profile schemes across the town. Our major projects team is well underway with the Garon Park pool and diving centre and the successful completion of the Kingsdown School extension, on time and within budget, highlights our ability to deliver important community facilities, whilst working safely and effectively within busy live environments.”
