Croydon College win for ISG

Wednesday 10, February 2010

ISG has secured a £12 million, fast-track D&B project, to build a new rotunda structure at Croydon College's Fairfield campus. Forming a stunning new entrance to the College with a full height atrium, the six-storey concrete and steel frame building, designed by Nightingale Associates, incorporates a double-height space below ground level, which will house drama studios and music practice rooms. The upper levels provide light and spacious circulation areas with glazed walkways and two panoramic lifts providing access to upper levels in the main college building. The project also sees ISG strip out and refurbish two existing floors of teaching accommodation within the college, installing new M&E services and re-roofing part of the structure. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2011.

Craig Tatton, ISG's managing director, commented: "Despite concerns over public sector spending cuts, ISG is making significant progress securing high quality projects within the FE sector and within the education market in general. The overall value of projects might have fallen over this period, however there are still numerous opportunities for high calibre main contractors with strong industry credentials. Most recently, ISG has been invited to tender for a range of stalled projects where the incumbent contractor has ceased trading, and as a business we have worked hard to develop compelling solutions to enable clients to get these schemes back on track."
